The Indiana Young Readers Center (IYRC) was established in 2016 as a Bicentennial Project with the aim of celebrating Indiana authors and illustrators. Its primary goal is to educate Hoosier children on Indiana history and introduce them to the diverse divisions within the Indiana State Library. This center serves as an engaging space where kids can explore Indiana's rich literary heritage and discover the works of talented children's authors and illustrators from the state.
The successful completion of this project involved a collaborative effort between the Associate Director of Public Services of the Indiana State Library and the Young Readers Center Librarian. During its inception, two essential focal points were identified: the inclusion of age-appropriate books and creating a kid-friendly environment tailored for children aged 3 to 15.
